Power BI Consultant / Data Analyst

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: £30,000.00 – £36,000.00 per year depending on experience

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, established Technical Consultancy company. We are looking for a self-motivated, technically minded, problem-solving individual to help service the needs of our expanding customer base. You will work alongside the Managing Director and Senior Consultants, who will provide you with the mentoring and experience you need to enhance your skills and develop your career.

This is a great opportunity to help grow and become a long-term part of the company.

This would be an ideal starting position for a recent graduate looking to gain technical skills or for a more experienced Power BI developer who wants to take the next step in their career.

We provide Technical Consultancy, Data Analytics and Management Information services to customers in the Legal, Personal Injury and Rehabilitation markets. We are looking to expand into the Life Science sector.  Background knowledge in these fields will be advantageous.

The role will involve a wide range of technical activities including system integration, data transformation and visualisation.  It requires strong technical, written, and interpersonal skills.

While this job is being offered as a full-time role, consideration will be given to applications from those who wish to work part-time or flexible hours.

The role will be predominately home-based but may require some travel for customer meetings and attendance at conferences.

Based in the historic market town of Banbury, the company was formed in 2018 as a small, bespoke consultancy specialising in the production of Management Information and Business Intelligence using Microsoft Power BI.

Graeme Hills Consultancy provides a wide range of technical services to clients across the UK including data analytics, integrated Platform as a Service (iPaaS) and workflow management using Microsoft Power Apps. Our firm focuses on providing clarity and insights on complex issues to help companies to tackle their most pressing operational challenges.

  • Work closely with key customers to support their business objectives
  • Create and maintain Power BI reports using DAX
  • Master new technologies to assist our customers’ needs
  • Data manipulation, validation and field protection using Excel
  • Configure and manage assorted business support systems
  • Produce detailed reports and presentations
  • Support business analysis sessions and produce supporting documentation
  • Produce requirement specifications and support procurement processes
  • Present to existing and potential customers
  • Undertake research projects and report back on findings
  • Consistently achieve utilisation and billing targets

The role includes comprehensive and structured training on Power BI software (if needed) as well as the opportunity to learn new software and technologies coupled with ongoing mentoring from the senior members of the team.
Required:

  • A 2:1 or higher degree in a technical or business-related subject
  • Previous experience of Power BI and DAX or similar
  • Experience of SQL, database tables and structures
  • Programming experience with a good understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • A willingness and desire to learn is essential
  • The ability to work collaboratively in multiple teams at the same time
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate and communicate complex information to non-technical people
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail and organisational skills
  • You must be willing to travel and stay away from home when required

Advantageous Experience:

  • A Masters or PhD in STEM
  • Experience of data warehouses and data lakes
  • Experience of integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS)
  • Understanding of business analysis, transformation and workflow
  • Experience working with customers, and providing excellent customer support
  • Given the location of our customers, a full, clean driving license as well as your own vehicle
